Be Good Digital Citizens – October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

We Seniors, unfortunately, are frequent targets to fraud and scams of all types.  But we are fighting back by improving our digital citizenship and online safety.

In that mission, we will take the month of October to learn and focus on online safety and good cybersecurity.  October is the 15th annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).  The event is a month-long focus on online safety co-led by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

As a NASCAN Champion, the Senior Tech Club believes that there is no topic more important than your online safety.  To support that focus during the month of October we will share practical advice on securing your device, protecting your privacy and increasing our awareness of common scams.  We will office the best practical advice from organizations like National Cyber Security Alliance, AARP Fraud Watch Network and more.

To get us started, let’s share two recipes from the Senior Tech Club catalog about securing your device.  Securing your device is an important step to becoming a good digital citizen.
