Make Your Android Smartphone Smarter

Exploring Shortcuts, Widgets & Home Screen Design

This is a Shift Online Workshop where you will learn smartphone topics from the Senior Tech Club from the comfort of your home,.  Our objective is to help you stay connected, engaged and always learning with the support of your smartphone.

Workshop Date & Time:  April 16, 2020 6:30 – 8:00 PM 

Class topics will be explored for one hour followed by a 30 minute question period.

Printable Class Handout: Make your Android Smarter – Shift

You can access and print a class handout before class.  This handout will be available 2 days before the class date. 

Classroom approach:  The presentation of topics and demonstrations will be conducted by Don using Zoom.  This will allow you to watch presentation slides and demonstrations while listening to the class presentation.  

It is recommended that you view the Zoom presentation on a laptop, desktop computer or  tablet allowing you to explore the classroom topics on your smartphone.  

Questions:  Question can be submitted using the classroom chat, or verbally after raising your hand using the Zoom tools.  Additionally class participants can submit questions via email to: questions@SeniorTechClub.com

This workshop will focus on three Android topics:

In this class we will:

1. Review some of the essential shortcuts that Android user can use to silence their phones, access the camera, find lost apps and more.
2. Define the role of Widget and help you choose a home screen widget this is useful to you.
3. Many Android Home screens get messy and unorganized.  We will review the some recommended home screen principles and show you how to move app icons and other home screen tools so that you can quickly access the apps and tools you need.
