Going Grocery Shopping with your iPhone
Do you go grocery shopping with your iPhone? I’m not talking about using your phone to make calls during your shopping adventure. Although I have to say that I’ve made dozens of calls back home for clarifications on my shopping trips.
I’m really asking about using your iPhone to create your shopping list using the Notes app.
This week, I’d like to take it one step farther. Could you create your shopping list handsfree using Siri?
Picture yourself standing in front of your refrigerator with your iPhone in hand and saying the items that you need to purchase while Siri creates the note in the Notes app. Later you read that same note as you walk the aisles in the grocery store.
It’s actually pretty easy and quite efficient.
In this weeks featured nugget, you will learn how to use the Notes app handsfree so that you can create your shopping list. Give it a try and pat yourself on the back for your accomplishment.
There are essentially two challenges to this grocery list challenge.
- What is the Siri command to create a note?
- How to you tell Siri to put an item onto a new line?
This week’s Featured Nugget will help with both challenges.

A fun and heart-warming story from this past week involved the family of an iPhone 11 user from Montana. They were visiting Disney World with their six-year old girl. It was a dream of her short lifetime. Starting with the iPhone 7, our iPhones have become increasingly waterproof. The iPhone 11 is the most waterproof iPhone Apple has manufactured. But dropping your iPhone into the Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney World is not in the specifications. And certainly having it submerged for nearly two months is beyond belief. It survived! You can read the story at the MacRumors web site and then take some comfort in knowing that your iPhone is capable of surviving a dunk in a pool, ocean or lake. But don’t ever submerge your phone to wash it.
